The Nepal Literature Festival, the only international literary festival in the country, is a playground for authors, public personalities and literature connoisseurs. Behind this literary extravaganza is the Bookworm Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the world of words.

The Foundation is a collective of publishers, journalists and writers who eat, breathe and pray books. The Foundation envisaged a grand and all-encompassing literary festival in Nepal to promote writing, the arts and aesthetics. With a very humble beginning in 2011, as we come to its sixth edition, the Festival has surpassed itself in terms of confidence and collaboration. The first four editions of the Festival were held in Kathmandu, the country’s capital. But in 2016, to expand the literary circle even beyond, the festival travelled to the scenic city of Pokhara, one of the most beautiful places in the country.

To uphold our national literature and culture while strengthening international ties, we have brought together authors, activists, artists, intellectuals, economists, political figures and artists to witness and participate in impassioned and pertinent discussions. We are proud that the Festival has been graced by the presence of international writers such as Mark Tully, Late Vinod Mehta, Shashi Throor, Prajwal Parajuly, Shobhaa De, Amish Tripathi, Ravinder Singh, Barkha Dutt, Tishani Doshi, Carlo Pizzato, Advaita Kala, Ned Beuman, Farah Ghuznavi, Ira Trivedi, etc. With love and support from a wide audience, we hope to keep hosting thinkers and artists for a literary celebration par excellence.
